The first chapter of the partnership was introduced 12 years ago with the launch of the collections in 2009-2011. The second chapter includes BST +J through Fall/Winter 2020, Spring/Summer 2022 and the latest is the upcoming Fall/Winter 2022 Collection.
As the world is transforming for a new beginning, we can feel the energy of awakening with overflowing hope. The combined collection of UNIQLO and designer Jil Sander returns with the latest designs for Autumn/Winter 2021, still keeping the imprint of the characteristic design style and the quiet subtle inspiration. Exquisite seams combined with premium fabrics give a fresher, more modern look to essentials paired with new features.
Talking about the time of making this collection, and also the time when the whole world was struggling because of the pandemic, designer Jil Sander shared: “I realized how important nature is. In the countryside, you are quite free to move, it is the beauty of nature from the gardens that help us feel more optimistic.
It feels great to take care of the trees and walk around the edge of the forest, or in the grasslands. For almost two years we have not been able to go to Tokyo. Collections are created entirely online. But to my surprise, it turned out that the online and distanced interactions didn’t cause as many problems as we thought and everything went well.
This is really a “sweet fruit” from the process of cooperation with the constant chemistry between us and UNIQLO with the familiar connections between the two sides. We understand and trust each other. Rooted in ideas that came up during the pandemic, I’m confident that we’ll be able to finish our collection eventually.
Spending all my time working on the +J collection keeps me focused, so I have plenty of time to reflect on the mental and social changes the pandemic has had on me. . The collection showcases outstanding designs with loose silhouettes that are comfortable yet stylish. The shape with the sculptural effect is very unique, the proportions are balanced, bringing a feeling of comfort and lightness. The +J collection continues to shape modern fashion, inspiring wearers with positive energy and confidence to blend into a new rhythm of life.
Vibrant whites and reds with different shades bring energetic accents to the collection, alongside black, charcoal, khaki and caramel tones. Designs are created from a variety of materials: techno-satin, cashmere, ultra-fine merino wool to leather and habotai silk. Every detail of this collection contains care and innovation in harmony with contemporary elegance and sophistication.
