Photographer Astrid Ji grew up in Shanghai before moving to New York. She brought with her an fascination for Chinese culture.

Designer Katelyn Zhang has released dresses and tops that have both vibrant colors that are easy to see in Asian culture, and the pastel elegance that Western Europeans love. Her new collection that you can see in this series of photos, Beaming Yukon , is inspired by the ancient story Tieu Dao Du by author Chuang Tzu.

To make the series more romantic and sweet, photographer Astrid Ji used soft, pastel colors. But these colors can only come out when you take pictures in the middle of nature in inclined light conditions. It could be the clear morning sun, or the fiery sunset. The light before 9:00 and after 16:00 is soft, making your frame more poetic.
